Civil War Project

Mira, Leah and I worked on a Civil War project all about How Abraham Lincoln's view on slavery and how it affected the Civil War. This project took a few weeks to do but it was well worth it. There was a lot to the process of the of project but the main ones that I do remember are deciding the type of project we are going to do, working on the actual project and deciding what how to present it.

When our group decided to do our topic, we soon debated about what kind of project to complete. We had a ton of choices but we agreed to do a Prezi. A Prezi is a website for projects, planning, or really anything. You can do it for free, and its super cool. We planned out our Prezi on a large paper, and decided what it is going to look like.

When we got a good idea of what it would like, we started researching and found out a lot of information. We began to work on our Prezi with the information we were discovering. Through the days, we decided to spit the tasks. We each got assigned to a part of the project to research. The next few days we focused on the information we had to learn and put it onto a google doc. When time was running out for the project to be complete we took the document and put all of the new founded information onto our Prezi. The project was almost finished, but we still needed to complete Lincoln's view on slavery. We all worked together super hard and found out as much as we can for Lincoln's part.

Finally we got the prezi done, but that wasnt the end. Next was the decision of how we are going to present our project to everyone. We didnt want to do the usual boring standing in front of the audience and presenting thing, so we decided to do a Jing. Jing is a website that lets you take a screen shot of anything, and add a audio to it. All three of us had never used Jing before so we knew it was going to be interesting. We all squeezed in this tight closet/room and recorded our voices over the Prezi. We mainly read off the Prezi, but also added a few extras with pictures and things. Even though it was fun and cool to record all of our voices, we soon realized how long our project was. With the Jing in the Prezi, the project was a full 20 minutes! We COULD NOT present a project that lasted 20 minutes to the students and parents. We were pretty much all out of ideas until Mr. Randy suggested we should film a short commerical advertising our actual Prezi. We followed through with that idea and filmed a quick and cheesey commerical about the project we had done. We presented it to the audience and everybody seemed to enjoy it:)

This project really challenged all of us to work hard, but it was fun too. We started out by choosing the Prezi website to do our project. Its a cool website and we had a lot of fun with it. After we chose the Prezi, we began researching our topic and putting it into our prezi. Then thinking that it would be creative, we chose Jing to record our voices over our Prezi to present to people. Then later realizing that it was way to long of a project to present, so we decided to create a short commerical to show people that the actual project is out there. This process was definatly long and difficult, but we were all satisfied in the end:)
